Cabbie hits boy, takes him on 5-hr horror ride

A cabbie ran over a four-year-old boy in northwest Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar and then allegedly spent future five hours driving the dying victim and his mother round the town , trying to win over the mama not to report the accident whereas telling her that none of the hospitals they visited were willing to admit the boy. Having received no medical attention for five precious hours, the boy , Rohit Kumar, died inside the cab. The driver, Rahul, 32, was later arrested.
“Those were five hours of horror. I have three additional youngsters World Health Organization have perpetually been asking Maine wherever Rohit is. How do I tell them they can ne'er see their brother again?“ Vasanti Kumari, the distressed mother who works as a maid, told TOI.

Police said the incident was reportable on Friday evening. They said Rohit was enjoying outside his Indira Vikas Colony home once the Eeco cab hit him whereas reversing. As a crowd gathered, the cabbie, Rahul, 32, offered to take the boy and his mom to hospital. But once within the automobile, Rahul kept making an attempt to talk over with Vasanti and even allegedly vulnerable her. Vasanti said she at first thanked Rahul for of fering to take her kid to hospital.

“I was carrying no phone, because of that i could not inform anyone concerning the incident. He began to speed and as soon as we tend to were aloof from the world wherever the accident passed off, he stopped his vehicle and asked me not to tell anyone concerning the incident. I was puzzled. I didn't recognize however to react, but before long enough I told him that i'd report this to the cops,“ said the mother.

Vasanti said the man then took the automobile to a personal hospital, went inside and came out oral communication that they would not admit the kid.

“He drove United States around for 5 hours and took us to four alternative hospitals together with the AIIMS Trauma Center and Hindu Rao hospital. Each time, he went in and returned with the same answer,“ she said.

“At 5.30pm, Rohit opened his eyes one last time, only to shut it forever,“ she said.

The boy's father, Bhavesh Kumar, who works as a carpenter, said he was enlightened concerning the incident at 6pm, when his better half referred to as him up from a native booth. The couple then rushed their son to a hospital, but the doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.

Police said they received a decision concerning the incident at 9pm, after that they shaped a team to nab the suspect. “We immediately registered a case and efforts were created to nab the suspect. He was later arrested from his house,“ said Milind Dumbere, DCP (north west).

The boy's mother added that the driver had conjointly been threatening to kill her when the boy died, saying that he can lock her within the automobile and set it on hearth. Police however, have not confirmed this.
